Tramezzini - Italian Finger Sandwiches - 4 Easy and Delicious Recipes

Happy Holidays Everyone! I thought this would be a great time to share this recipe with you because these delicious little Tramezzini are perfect to have around during the holidays. Bring them to parties or have on hand as a light quick lunch during those busy days!

Tramezzini are small soft triangular sandwiches served at many bars throughout Italy. Pretty much the Italian version of a tea sandwich. They are the perfect snack or light meal at a bar when you are out and about exploring and just need something quick and fabulously delicious. They are made with a soft white sliced bread that reminds me of the classic wonder bread. Sometimes it seems an odd Italian bread choice because you don’t see this kind of bread anywhere else in Italy. They are served with the crusts taken off too…Just like mamma used to do:) These soft tasty little sandwiches are filled with various types of fillings….anything from tuna to mozzarella. They are delicious, satisfying and very Italian!

The last time we were in Venice we stopped for snack at a little bar close to the Rialto Bridge. We were hungry and tired and Bar Rialto da Lollo looked like the perfect place to give the kids a break and get the adults an Aperol Spritz! We chose this bar because I loved the look of their unique tramezzini shapes (rolled instead of sliced) and their flavor combinations were fun and different too. Right away I spotted one with mortadella and vegetables and since mortadella is like currency in my house, I knew that was the choice for everyone. I also knew that I would have to share this recipe with you when I got home.

Below are 4 Tramezzini variations that will make you feel like you’re sitting in an Italian bar. I honestly have a hard time picking my favorite. These recipes are perfect for a tasty simple lunch or at a picnic. They make a great dish to bring to a party or a fun snack to go along with your aperetivo too. Give these easy recipes a try! Everyone will love them.

* If you want these Tramezzini to taste as Italian as possible it is important to use a high quality organic mayo or homemade mayonnaise. I use Trader Joe’s organic mayonnaise.

To make cutting these Tramezzini a bit easier, cut the side with all the fillings and the side with just mayonnaise before you put them together. The end product will be much prettier!
